王建民是在皇家0比6落後的6局下半登板，面對一、二壘有人的狀況，王建民被（基爾邁爾）轟出3分砲，皇家0比9落後， 王建民責失1分。

接著王建民又被敲出2支安打外加1次觸身球形成滿壘，不過在面對下一棒（迪克森）的滾地球時，王建民出現傳球失誤，沒有傳往本壘反而傳二壘，皇家丟掉第10分，隨後王建民又因為滾地球再掉1分，皇家0比11落後光芒。

總計王建民投27球，其中有19個好球，投1局被敲3支安打丟3分，其中有2分責失，防禦率上升到4.89。
